Having started training in 1986, Jeremy has well over 20 years experience in a wide variety of settings, including as a full time therapist in the National Health Service, and now as a psychotherapist in Brighton. He currently works in the NHS, private practice (Harley Street/Brighton) and higher education. He also teaches a one year CBT course to NHS therapists, as well as other forms of therapy and also teaches a local Brighton CBT training. He is the chair of the largest Counselling and Psychotherapy organisation in Brighton, which offers 22,000 sessuions a year, and is the director of another service.
Jeremy specialises in CBT in Brighton and his own service. He is interested in the integration of CBT with other approaches, and the effective use of evidence-based practice. His own service specialises in the evidence-based therapies, and is developing across the South of England.
Jeremy has considerable experience in working with people younger people [above the age of 14], drug users, post trauma work as well the range of anxiety disorders, depression and other, more enduring, mental health problems.
Jeremy has a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology. He also has Post-Graduate qualifications in the major approaches to counselling, (including in CBT), and clinical supervision, and is currently completing another Masters Degree, in Cognitive-Behavioural Psychotherapy. This focuses on the evidence based (best proven) therapies, which he also teaches. He has published articles in the field of psychotherapy.
He has undertaken training directly from the leading professors & clinicians in the UK for CBT in the common mental health problems, such as Paul Salkovskis, David Clark, Anke Ehlers and Melanie Fennell. Jeremy has also trainined in the United States with world pioneers of CBT, Aaron and Judith Beck and other leading clincians.
He has previously been registered by the UKCP, and currently has senior Accreditation with the British Association for Counselling (MBACP [Snr. Accred.]), is Accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) for his CBT work.
The initial consultation usually lasts 50 minutes. There will be an opportunity to discuss what you hope to achieve in therapy and the frequency and number of sessions required.
The 2011 published hourly rate for qualified (BABCP accredited) therapists across sussex is £75. Jeremy charges £60 per 50 minute session in Brighton for CBT and has some reduced fee slots.
We can also have sessions by phone or email, if you have difficulty in coming to the sessions for any reason, and it is often not necessary to meet weekly. Follow-up sessions, longer meetings or travelling time (if home sessions are required) are charged pro rata. Concessions are available, please ask. His clinic is on bus routes for Brighton and Hove.
