Counselling provides a confidential, safe and non-judgemental space in which you can talk freely about your difficulties. You may want to ventilate pent up feelings or take time to reflect at your own pace. The counsellor does not generally give advice but works alongside you to find a way forward. They also offer constructive feedback and a new perspective on the way you see yourself and others. Counselling is usually short term, lasting between six and twenty weeks. Longer term therapy can be arranged if required.
Counselling can help those who are coming to terms with a loss or life change, experiencing depression, anxiety or low self esteem. Counselling is recommended by N.I.C.E. as helpful in the treatment of depression, providing an effective alternative to anti-depressants.
As part of the Brighton Psychotherapy & Counselling multi-disciplinary team it is possible to review your needs as the counselling progresses. If needed, you can be refered to other members of the team for further therapy.
Counselling is available at Brighton Therapy Centre 14 St Georges Place, Brighton BN1 4GB.
